For the -gtk1 distribution, you need (if you have not downloaded them before) the libraries in the (1.8MB) file which you will also find in the Windows directory. The contents of this file should be unpacked into the folder of the mj program.
FarmersMahJongg will create a game setup from which you must try to remove all tiles. You can only pick them up in pairs by clicking the first and double-clicking the second tile. Removable tiles must lie along the edge of one of the tile levels.

FYI: The version of Ivory on the website requires Java. In my case, this means it's out because I'm not going to install Java on Mom's machine if at all possible. (Once again, the fewer moving parts, the fewer calls I'll get. At least hopefully.)

I do like them both after playing a few starter boards, and each has its own distinct feel. Mahjong Solitare is a bit more cartoony/arcade-like but it also lets you zoom in on the board with the standard pinch gestures.
• More than 1500 boards!
Even though Mahjong In Poculis comes with six nice themes, only one is available, initially; to enjoy the others you have to download them from the Web. It took only a few minutes to download each of the optional themes, and we liked that the themes took up little space on our computer. The gameplay is challenging and consists mainly of matching and removing titles to score points, but this is not as easy as it sounds. Since the game uses the classic Mahjong Solitaire rule, you can only select and match the tiles found at the layout's border. The game does offer detailed rules via an in-game tutorial and gameplay hints, though, and if you keep on at it, you will fall in love with it sooner or later. Each theme lets you check world rankings and other scores, as well as earn trophies based on your performance, making this game highly replayable.
