Summary Get Disk Inventory X here from the developer (free) GrandPerspective is a small utility application for Mac OS X that graphically shows the disk usage within a file system. It can help you to manage your disk, as you can easily spot which files and folders take up the most space. It uses a so called tree map for visualisation. Each file is shown as a rectangle with an area proportional to the file's size. Files in the same folder appear together, but their placement is otherwise arbitrary. Head on over to SourceForge and download the main release file (1.5.1 as of today). Once downloaded, if your browser doesn’t automatically open the disk image file, double click on it in the Finder to open it. The computer name can be set in the System Preferences in the "Sharing" module; on the command line the computer name needs to be set with sudo hostname nargothrond. Note: This setting is periodically lost for unknown reasons and must be redone.
